Autodesk Maya was used to create my 3D models, and I have imported them into UDK Game Engine to create buildings and levels. Along with assignment work, I also have personal projects that I have been working on to improve my skills within Maya.
My Splash Damage building was created for an assignment based off the 2012 Art Test taken from http://www.splashdamage.com/envarttest
As part of the assignment, we had to have the building somewhere within our level. I kept a development blog for my level process.
College Projects
I created this Bollard for my first assignment in year one of Games Dev.
My splash damage building in Maya after a quick render
Adding a quick lens flare to my UDK level
I added a lift into UDK as an animation object, allowing players to use this in game.
My level in the UBlock stage.
I added a joystick I created in Maya into my UDK level so I could texture and animate it. This is how it looks before I rendered it out.
Wireframe mode in UDK. I took this screenshot to show that I have changed it into a mover.
I added a default texture to my joystick as well as animation.
My level before I added a quick post process colour to it.
I added a quick pink colour to make my level stand out to show I have done colour grading.
Animating a texture to a UBlock. It rotates from the top to the bottom.
Like before, this texture animates around the block.
I created a conclusion mood board to show the layout of my level and also where the light points would be and why I am adding them.
I added small light sources within my level to make it brighter in some corners. As players run around the map, these will also be interest points where they can find pick ups.
Adding path nodes to my level. I want the AI bots to follow these paths.
This was the start of my Sci-Fi Corridor work using Maya.
Created in Maya
Imported mod pack pieces into UDK and tried to create the Splash Damage building using them.
This was just an example of mod pack pieces that I created in Maya and exported to UDK. They show textures that I took photographs of such as bricks and windows, edited them using Photoshop, and then created a map for them. I then edited my UV's on the mod pack pieces to create individual pieces.
Creating some basic mod pack pieces to put into UDK. I also created the Atlas Map for the UVing.
